CARBOTEC ALLROUND: DESIGNED FOR VERSATILITY The CARBOTEC ALLROUND emitter has been designed for versatility. This emitter offers excellent qualities in both FD MS and Fl MS at a very reasonable price to performance ratio. The CARBOTEC ALLROUND is a good choice for anyone who deals with pure substances and applies both FD MS and Fl MS. DURABILITY The pure pyrocarbon microneedles of the CARBOTEC ALLROUND are very durable. Thus the CARBOTEC ALLROUND can be used for several analyses in a row without losing its sensitivity. In order to avoid memory effects, the emitter can be cleaned between different analyses by heating it to approx. 1300 °C (corresponding to approx. 90 mA emitter heating current). INTENSITY AND STABILITY OF THE ION SIGNAL The CARBOTEC ALLROUND possesses an open but regular coating of carbon microneedles. Accordingly, large amounts of sample can be adsorbed by the emitter. This leads to the long lasting stability of the ion Signal in FD MS. For example, in FD of hexa-triacontane, the ion Signal remains stable for more than 15 minutes. The total ion current is approx. 150 nA at a 14 mA emitter heating current (best anode temperature). The large amount of high quality carbon microneedles on this emitter leads to high ionization efficiency. Thus each emitter has an ion emission current of approx. 3 µA under activation conditions (emitter heating current of 90 mA; 10-2 mbar indene).
